FDR Drive or West Side Highway to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, towards the Verrazano Bridge – continue on 278 West Expressway towards New Jersey. Exit at Richmond Road. Make a left turn onto Richmond Road and continue 3 miles. Go left at the fork in the road onto Amboy Road. After 1 mile, make a right turn onto Clarke Avenue. Cemetery is on the left.

Long Island Expressway West. Exit at 17W towards I-278 W /the Brooklyn Queens Expressway. Follow signs to Verrazano Bridge and Staten Island. Once over the Verrazano Bridge, continue on 278 W towards New Jersey. Exit at Richmond Road. Make a left turn onto Richmond Road and continue 3 miles. At fork in the road, follow towards the left, towards Amboy Road. Make a right turn onto Clarke Avenue.
FROM I-278 E (Staten Island Expressway) Take exit 7 toward Richmond Ave Merge onto Fahy Ave Turn left at Lamberts Ln Turn right at Richmond Ave Turn left at Richmond Hill Rd Turn left at Clarke Ave The Cemetery Entrance is on the right. Drive through the gatehouse building.
All trains to Staten Island Ferry (No. 1 train to South Ferry, No 4/5 trains to Bowling Green or N/R train to White Hall station. Take Staten Island Ferry to Staten Island, and then Bus #74 to St. Patricks Place, Walk 2 Blocks to Clarke Avenue to Cemetery.
1) Take the R train to 86th Street.
2) Take the S53 bus at 4th Ave and 86th Street to Richmond Road & Narrows Road North.
3) Switch to S74 bus towards Tottenville or Amboy & Main Street.
4) Get off at St. Patrick’s Place.
5) Walk 2 blocks to Clarke Avenue to the Cemetery (see map above).
1) Take B1 bus from Brighton Beach towards Bay Ridge
2) Switch to B64 Bus at 13th Ave near Dyker Beach Course (or take B64 from Coney Island-Stillwell Ave directly)
3) Switch to S53 bus at 4th Ave and 86th Street, then follow directions from Bay Ridge
Silver Lake Cemetery was the first cemetery purchased by the Hebrew Free Burial Association. A $1,500 loan was provided by HFBA member Max Silver to purchase a 4 3/4 acre tract of land on Staten Island. Over the next seventeen years, thousands of Jews from the Lower East Side were buried on this gently inclined hillside. Some days saw the interment of over a dozen individuals, mostly children.
